Renovation, Legacy, and Historic Preservation
Barbara Fasken's Vision for La Posada
An adventurous aviator and beacon of philanthropy, Barbara Fasken purchased La Posada Hotel in 1994. Known for her love of Laredo, Fasken brought a piece of Mexico to this side of the border. Under her direction, the hotel underwent a significant renovation, transforming guest rooms and public spaces. The Fasken family's Palafox Hospitality Ltd. invested $17 million in a 2006 renovation to upgrade the hotel. The Bartolome Garcia House-Capitol of the Republic of the Rio Grande, a historic sandstone building from the 1800s, now serves as the Museum of the Republic of the Rio Grande, showcasing an authentic 1830s Laredo home.
Commitment to Community and Excellence
Celebrating Laredo's Heritage and Hospitality
La Posada Hotel takes seriously its role as a corporate citizen of Laredo, sponsoring various historic community events, including WBCA festivities. It is the official hotel sponsor of Jamboozie and hosts the 16 de Septiembre Celebration organized by the Mexican Consulate. The Fasken Family's Prairie Foundation annually makes generous awards to Laredo non-profits. Hospitality meets history at La Posada Hotel, allowing countless guests over five decades to experience the rich history of Laredo. Renowned for the quality of its service and five-star accommodations, across from San Agustin Plaza, the historic La Posada Hotel holds its rightful place as Laredo's premier hostelry. Barbara would surely approve.
